The Center for Research in Security Prices (CRSP), established in 1960 as part of the University of Chicago, is a globally recognized leader in financial data and index solutions. Originally focused on providing enriched US securities market data to the academic community, CRSP has expanded its reach to serve government agencies and financial institutions worldwide.

CRSP is renowned for its flagship U.S. Stock Databases, offering comprehensive and authoritative historical stock data from 1925 to the present. In 2011, CRSP introduced CRSP Market Indexes (CRSPMI), a suite of investable U.S. equity indexes designed for benchmarking, risk measurement, portfolio construction, and modeling. These indexes reflect research-driven methodologies and incorporate best practices from both Booth faculty and the investment community.

As a not-for-profit, wholly owned by the University of Chicago, CRSP operates under the guidance of Booth School of Business leadership and university representatives. Headquartered in downtown Chicago, CRSP employs over 100 professionals dedicated to delivering trusted solutions to academic institutions, government entities, and private sector financial organizations across the globe.

CRSP Market Indexes are licensed by more than 100 market participants, including broker-dealers, market makers, hedge funds, investment consultants, and wealth managers. They also serve as the benchmarks for ETFs, mutual funds, and other collective investment products, with over $2.8 trillion in fund assets under management linked to CRSP indexes.
